3. Warranty Claims Process
If you believe your SsangYong or KGM part is defective and covered under this warranty, please follow these steps:
Step 1 – Contact Us Immediately
Do not attempt to repair or modify the part yourself. Contact our customer service team on 1800 595 454 or email sales@carpart.com.au within the warranty period.
Step 2 – Provide Documentation
You will need to provide:
Your original proof of purchase (invoice or receipt)
Photos or video of the defect or issue
Your vehicle’s VIN (for compatibility verification)
Any relevant service or installation receipts (see Section 5 for requirements)
Step 3 – Return the Part
If requested, return the defective part to our premises. Return shipping costs are your responsibility unless we determine the part was faulty due to our error.
Step 4 – Inspection
Our team will inspect the returned part. In some cases, we may request an independent third-party inspection at our discretion. For high-value components (engines, transmissions), inspection must be conducted by a qualified mechanic.
Step 5 – Resolution
If the defect is covered, we will, at our discretion:
Repair the part (if possible and safe to do so)
Replace the part with an identical or equivalent unit
Refund the original purchase price (excluding shipping)
4. Exclusions – What Is Not Covered
This warranty does not cover damage or failure caused by any of the following:
Improper installation – Including incorrect fitment, use of wrong tools, failure to follow manufacturer instructions, or installation by an unqualified person.
Misuse or abuse – Including racing, towing beyond rated capacity, off-road use beyond intended design, or exceeding manufacturer specifications.
Neglect or poor maintenance – Including missed service intervals, using incorrect oils, coolants, or fluids, or ignoring warning signs on your vehicle’s dashboard.
Accidents or collision damage – Including crash damage, impact, water immersion, or fire.
Normal wear and tear – Including brake pads, cabin filters, wiper blades, tyres, suspension bushes, clutch kits, and similar consumable items.
Modifications or alterations – Parts that have been opened, modified, repaired by a third party without authorisation, or had their serial numbers removed.
Overheating – Any engine, transmission, or component that shows evidence of overheating (including melted connectors, warped casings, or thermal damage).
Water damage – Any evidence of water ingress or corrosion will void the warranty.
Incorrect diagnosis – If you purchase a part based on your own diagnosis and it does not solve the problem, the part is not eligible for return or warranty (see Section 6).
Engines, transmissions, and drivetrain components are sold as complete units unless otherwise stated. Any accessories supplied (such as sensors, mounts, or harnesses) are provided for your convenience only and are not covered by warranty. We strongly recommend transferring your own known-good accessories.
5. Buyer Responsibilities – Maintaining Warranty Coverage
To protect your warranty for engines, transmissions, and high-value components, you agree to complete the following before installation. Failure to do so will void your warranty.
For Engines & Engine Components:
Flush the cooling system – The engine cooling circuit must be professionally flushed. Keep receipts as proof.
Replace all coolant hoses connected to the engine.
Use only manufacturer-specified coolant and engine oil.
Replace timing belts, water pumps, and tensioners (where applicable) if the part does not include them.
Have installation performed by a qualified mechanic with appropriate experience.
For Transmissions & Transfer Cases:
Flush the transmission cooling circuit (if applicable).
Use only manufacturer-specified transmission fluid.
Replace the torque converter (for automatic transmissions) if installing a used transmission.
Have installation performed by a qualified transmission specialist or mechanic.
For All Parts:
Proof of professional installation (paid receipts or work orders from a qualified workshop) must be provided with any warranty claim. Without such proof, your claim will be denied.
Keep all service records and receipts for the lifetime of the warranty.
6. Incorrect Diagnosis – No Refund or Warranty
If you purchase a part based on your own diagnosis of a vehicle fault, and that diagnosis proves to be incorrect, the part is non-refundable and non-returnable. This applies especially to:
Electrical components (sensors, control modules, ECUs, alternators, starters, etc.)
Engines, transmissions, and drivetrain components
Any part where fitment or function depends on accurate fault-finding
Recommendation: Always have your SsangYong or KGM professionally diagnosed by a qualified mechanic or specialist workshop before ordering replacement parts. If you are unsure, contact our team on 1800 595 454 or email sales@carpart.com.au – but the final responsibility for correct diagnosis rests with you.
