Return Policy

Return Policy

We aim to provide you with high-quality products and excellent customer service. Please read our return policy carefully to ensure a smooth experience with any returns or exchanges.

1. Eligibility for Returns

To be eligible for a return, the item must meet all the following conditions:

  • Unused – The part must not have been installed, fitted, or used in any way.

  • Original packaging – The item must be returned in its original box or packaging with all tags, manuals, and accessories.

  • Same condition – The part must be in the exact same condition as when you received it.

  • Within 30 days – Returns must be initiated within 30 calendar days of the purchase date (as shown on your invoice or receipt).

Important notes:

  • Custom-ordered parts or special-order items (sourced specifically for your SsangYong or KGM model request) may not be eligible for return unless they are defective or damaged upon receipt.

  • Electrical components (e.g., ECUs, sensors, alternators, starters, control modules), opened software, or parts that have been installed are generally non-returnable (see Section 6 below).


2. Return Process

Please follow these steps to return an item:

Step 1 – Contact Us First
Before returning any item, you must contact our customer service team on 1800 595 454 or email sales@carpart.com.au to obtain a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number. Returns sent without an RMA number may not be accepted.

Step 2 – Get Your RMA Number
Our team will provide you with a unique RMA number and confirm the correct return address. We may also ask for photos or additional information about the reason for the return.

Step 3 – Pack & Label
Securely pack the item in its original packaging. Write your RMA number clearly on the outside of the package.

Step 4 – Ship the Item
You are responsible for all return shipping costs unless:

  • The return is due to our error (e.g., we sent the wrong SsangYong or KGM part).

  • The product is defective or damaged upon receipt.

We recommend using a trackable shipping service and purchasing shipping insurance for valuable components. We are not responsible for lost or damaged return shipments.


3. Inspection and Refunds

What happens after we receive your return?

  • Our team will inspect the returned item to ensure it meets the eligibility criteria (unused, original packaging, same condition).

  • If approved, we will process a refund to your original payment method (credit card, PayPal, bank transfer, etc.).

  • Shipping costs (original and return) are non-refundable unless the return was due to our error or a defective product.

Refund timing:
Please allow 7–10 business days for the refund to appear in your account after we process the return. Your bank or payment provider may take additional time to reflect the refund.

Partial refunds or non-refunds:
We may issue a partial refund (or deny a refund) if:

  • The item shows signs of use, installation, or damage.

  • The original packaging is missing or heavily damaged.

  • The item is returned after 30 days.

  • The item is non-returnable (see Section 6).


4. Exchanges

If you need to exchange an item for a different SsangYong or KGM part (e.g., different model fitment, different brand, or corrected version):

  • Contact our customer service team on 1800 595 454 or email sales@carpart.com.au to arrange the exchange. Provide your original order number and the details of the part you actually need (e.g., for Rexton vs. Musso).

  • Exchanges are subject to availability. We will do our best to accommodate your request.

  • Return the original item following the return process above (Section 2). You are responsible for return shipping costs unless the exchange is due to our error.

  • Once we receive and inspect your return, we will ship the replacement part to you. Additional shipping charges may apply.

Note: We recommend placing a new order for the correct part if you need it urgently, and then returning the incorrect item for a refund. This is often faster than waiting for the exchange process.


5. Damaged or Defective Items

What to do if you receive a damaged or defective SsangYong or KGM part:

  • Contact us immediately. Please email sales@carpart.com.au or call 1800 595 454 within 48 hours of delivery.

  • Provide photos. Send clear photos of:

    • The damaged or defective area of the part.

    • The original packaging (including any shipping labels or damage to the box).

  • Do not install the part. Installation will void any damage or defect claim.

  • We will provide instructions for returning the item (if necessary) and arrange for a replacement or full refund, including any associated return shipping costs.

Important: Damage claims made after 48 hours of delivery or after installation may be denied. Please inspect your order immediately upon arrival.


6. Non-Returnable Items

The following items are not eligible for return or refund under any circumstances (unless defective or damaged upon receipt – see Section 5):

  • Electrical & Electronic Components – Including ECUs, alternators, starters, sensors, control modules, wiring harnesses, lighting components, and any part that has been connected to a power source.

  • Installed or used parts – If the item shows signs of installation (e.g., gasket marks, bolt marks, grease, dirt, or sealant), it cannot be returned.

  • Opened or dismantled parts – Any item that has been taken apart, opened, or modified.

  • Cut sections – Wiring looms, hoses, pipes, cables, or belts that have been cut or trimmed.

  • Custom or special-order parts – Items sourced specifically for your SsangYong or KGM that are not part of our standard stock.

  • Clearance or final sale items – Products marked as “clearance,” “non-returnable,” or “final sale.”

  • Fluids, oils, filters, and gaskets – For hygiene and safety reasons.

  • Software, DVDs, or digital products – Once opened or downloaded.

  • Parts without original packaging – If the original box or tags are missing.

If you are unsure whether your item is returnable, please contact us before purchasing or before returning.


7. Warranty vs. Return Policy

Please note that our Warranty Policy is separate from this Return Policy.

  • Returns are for unused, unwanted parts within 30 days (change of mind, wrong part ordered, etc.).

  • Warranty claims are for parts that have been installed and failed within the warranty period (e.g., electrical items – 30 days; engines, transmissions – 3 months; see our full Terms & Conditions for details).

If you believe your SsangYong or KGM part is defective after installation, please refer to our Terms & Conditions – Warranty Information section for warranty claim instructions. Do not use this return process for warranty claims unless instructed to do so by our customer service team.


8. Wrong Part Ordered – What to Do

If you ordered the wrong SsangYong or KGM part by mistake:

  • Option 1 – Return for Refund (subject to eligibility) – Follow the return process (Section 2) within 30 days. You are responsible for return shipping costs. The part must be unused and in original packaging. A restocking fee of up to 25% may apply at our discretion.

  • Option 2 – Exchange for Correct Part – Contact us on 1800 595 454 or email sales@carpart.com.au to arrange an exchange (Section 4). You pay return shipping and any price difference.

  • Option 3 – Keep as Spare – No action needed. We cannot offer refunds on kept parts.

To avoid ordering the wrong part, please use our VIN lookup tool or contact our SsangYong & KGM parts specialists before purchasing. We are happy to verify compatibility for your specific model (Rexton, Musso, Korando, Torres, Tivoli, Turismo).


9. Restocking Fee

Just SsangYong Parts reserves the right to charge a restocking fee on returned items. The fee covers inspection, repackaging, and restocking labour.

  • General returns (change of mind, wrong part ordered, etc.): Up to 25% restocking fee.

  • Returns due to our error (wrong part sent, damaged in transit): No restocking fee.

  • Defective items (before installation): No restocking fee.

The restocking fee will be deducted from your refund amount.


10. International Returns (Outside Australia)

If you are an international customer (including New Zealand, Fiji, and other Pacific Islands):

  • You are responsible for all return shipping costs, customs duties, taxes, and any other fees.

  • We recommend using a trackable, insured shipping method.

  • International returns are subject to the same eligibility criteria (30 days, unused, original packaging).

  • Refunds will be issued in AUD to your original payment method. Exchange rate fluctuations are your responsibility.

  • Some international orders may be marked as “non-returnable” at the time of purchase due to shipping complexity. Please check your order confirmation.


11. Return Shipping Address

Do not return any item without first obtaining an RMA number from our customer service team. Unauthorised returns may be rejected or discarded.

Once you have an RMA number, you will be provided with the correct return shipping address. All returns must be sent to our Australian warehouse.
